On Saturday night after a lovely dinner with Albert and his friend Olga we went out to Sbonge for one last night of fun. I am the Shakira of Opuwo and I didn't want anyone to forget this white girl's moves! Then Willem went back to the house with me and we sat up cutting up juice boxes for a project till 1am! Anyone walking by must have thought we were crazy! By 3:30am I finally got myself to go to bed...but not for long since the alarm went off at 6am!
I sluggishly got out of bed, stuck my toothbrush in my mouth and mentally tried to get the sick to my stomach feeling out of my body that I've been having for days. I opened up the front door to find Caroline standing waiting for me! She started walking around the house asking me what I was doing with different things when I eventually just said "it's staying, ALL of it is staying, I'm not selling or giving, it's staying!" I think she got the point.
When Rev showed up at 6:45am to drive me to Windhoek I started to hug the pole in front of my house so as not to leave. It didn't work. He started packing ALL my crap in (two boxes, two suitcase, two carry on bags) and said "Kiss the door" which i did, and we left.
As we were driving away Caroline was telling me to become a Christian and Rev. was agreeing. We still had to go to my family's house and say goodbye. Everyone was up and ready for me and they were all standing outside crying! Mom just embraced me and sobbed on my shoulder then I took Lucky and tried to take him in the car with me. It was so heart wrenching to leave. Not knowing who i will see again...

Driving down Rev. and I were in the front and talking away. I was asking all sorts of questions on things I never got around to asking before. At one point we were looking at the beautiful stark landscape singing the Namibian national anthem.
He drove me to Otjiwarango and dropped me at my Mom's house there. (This was the family Coppelia stayed with when she first arrived in the country.) I had 30 minutes to say Hello and Goodbye. My sister had a 2 week old baby girl that I got to meet and my brother had grown a foot. Mom was desperately trying to make me some lunch but the electricity went out just as she was about to cook. The whole country has been suffering from outages because they buy their electricity from South Africa and the little they supply hasn't been functioning without rain...so Mom got Felix to dig out a gas stove. In 30 minutes I said my hellos and goodbyes and gave that baby, my sister and brother a good talking to. Rev. pulled up, honked the horn, Mom put the now fried chicken in a container and sent me down the road. This time I didn't cry.

Once in Windhoek Rev. drove me to my wonderful friends that work at the Embassy. This was definitely my Windhoek home over the last year. As emotionally drained as I was it was so nice to go to a comfortable kind place.
I had done it, I left Opuwo.
